Zisca St. Clair, a Principal of Rome McGuigan, P.C., focuses her practice extensively in the area of civil litigation, including insurance defense, commercial litigation, plaintiffs personal injury, taxation, products liability, and intellectual property matters. She has served as first and second chairs in civil and criminal trials and hearings. She also conducts investigations of former and current employees on behalf of corporate entities. In addition, she has been involved in numerous matters involving sovereign immunity concerning Indian Tribes in civil and criminal matters. Zisca received her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law and graduated from State University of New York College at Buffalo and is admitted to practice law in New York, Connecticut, United States District Court, District of Connecticut and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the Hartford County, Connecticut and New York Bar Associations; George Crawford Black Bar Association; Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association; Defense Research Institute; and Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association. Some of her cases include:

  • Products liability - various products; includes product defects resulting in fires and significant bodily injury, including death;
  • Litigation involving motor vehicle accidents, truck accidents, bus accidents, uninsured and underinsured motorist claims;
  • Defamation cases regarding individuals wrongfully accused of committing crimes, public officials/figures, and cease and desist letters;
  • Litigation involving the following areas: construction accidents (including NY Scaffold Law), mold litigation, accidents, wrongful death, contract collections, civil litigation regarding embezzlement and conversion;
  • Commercial litigation - debt/contract collections; contract disputes, lawsuit involving loan modifications;
  • Intellectual property - litigation involving breach of intellectual property agreements, non-compete agreements, confidentiality agreements, fiduciary duties, tortious interference with business relationships or expectancies, violation of the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act (CUTPA), injunctions; Investigations of current and former employees;
  • Litigation involving personal injuries such as slip and falls and other types of premises liability;
  • Consumer law, including odometer tampering and lawsuits involving automobile dealerships. Zisca has also handled cases involving failure to disclose information on real estate disclosure forms;
  • Civil actions for sexual assault;
  • Representation of condominium associations and utility companies;
  • Defense of attorneys and non-attorneys (unauthorized practice of law claims against insurance adjusters, state employees and others) before the Statewide Grievance Committee;
  • Probate litigation; and
  • Tax appeals involving employee leasing and Professional Employer Organizations (PEO).
